MASTER MARROM

Master Marrom Born in Bahia 1963 moved to Rio-de-Janeiro 1976 where he started to play capoeira with Master Canela. In those early days training took place in the back yard of a students house or a local park. Marrom practised with this group for four years until Master Canela moved to Italy. In the early 80’s he started to train with Mestre Peixinho of group Senzala. In 1989 Marrom started to give classes in Acalanto School in Botofogo, Rio. He became recognised for his pedagogy during his classes and before long, assisted by his senior students they developed an impressive network of classes in crèches, schools and cultural centres.

Early in 1990 Marrom started to teach adults in the Senzala academy, Copacabana, it was at this time he started to search out the roots of the Bahian capoeira known today as Capoeira Angola. Now we could see the birth of Associação de Capoeira Angola Marrom Capoeira e Alunos.
